Chances are good that all gardeners have enjoyed the clear, lively colors of geranium flowers in their garden -- planted in window boxes, pots, hanging baskets or beds.

These popular plants have showy, bright flowers in clusters held proudly above handsome foliage. They are available in a range of leaf shapes and flower colors, including red, white, pink, salmon and fuchsia. Geraniums are compatible with almost any plant and can be mixed with garden perennials and annuals for quick color additions, or grouped with other plants in container gardens.

There are many types of geraniums to choose from: zonal, ivy, scented leaf and Martha Washington. The zonal, or common, geranium is the most popular garden geranium with many varieties and colors. Named for its interesting "zoned" leaf markings, it is propagated by the methods which divide it into two basic types: cuttings and seed geraniums. Click here.
